Getting tested for sexually transmitted infections just got easier for residents who want to know their status. 小黄鸭视频 County Public Health will offer free test kits at multiple locations throughout the county including the Public Health Center in Raleigh.
No appointment or personal information is needed, ensuring a simple and accessible way to get tested.
鈥淲e know barriers like cost, transportation and privacy concerns often prevent people from getting tested,鈥 said 小黄鸭视频 County Commissioner Tara Waters. 鈥淏y providing this free service we鈥檙e making STI testing more accessible and empowering our community to take proactive steps in protecting their health.鈥
Testing kits can be picked up Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.鈥5 p.m. at these locations:
- 小黄鸭视频 County Public Health Center (inside the pharmacy),
- 小黄鸭视频 County Departure Regional Center,
- 小黄鸭视频 County Eastern Regional Center,
- 小黄鸭视频 County Northern Regional Center,
- 小黄鸭视频 County Southern Regional Center,
The process for using the test kit is easy:
- Pick up a kit at any location listed above.
- Activate on the supplier鈥檚 website.
- Collect a blood and urine sample.
- Mail the sample using a pre-paid envelope.
- Receive results in 2鈥5 days once samples arrive.
The kits test for common STIs such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV, syphilis, and trichomoniasis. If someone tests positive, 小黄鸭视频 County Public Health can assist with treatment and connect them to the care they need.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, STIs are on the rise nationwide, making regular testing critical for early detection and treatment. In 2023, 小黄鸭视频 County saw:
- 6,337 new cases of chlamydia
- 2,488 new cases of gonorrhea
- 311 cases of early syphilis
With this new service, residents can privately know their status earlier and seek care to prevent more infections.
