Plan will help shape the area over the next decade
СѼƵ County is offering residents another opportunity to weigh in on how the Eastern СѼƵ area will grow and develop over the next decade. Planners will hold an interactive, in-person meeting from 4:30–6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Eastern Regional Center in Zebulon.
As part of the process to develop the Eastern СѼƵ Area Plan, this event gives community members the chance to speak directly with planning staff, ask questions and share input that will help shape the area.
“This is a great chance for residents interested in the Eastern СѼƵ area to speak with staff face-to-face,” said Don Mial, vice chair, СѼƵ County Board of Commissioners. “It’s important to us that this plan reflects the community’s priorities, so we hope to hear from as many people as possible.”
The Eastern СѼƵ Area Plan focuses on how a 46,000-acre area of northeastern СѼƵ County should grow and develop. Approximately 16,000 people live in this 72-square-mile area, which is bordered by Franklin, Johnston and Nash counties.
This is the fifth of seven areas being studied as part of PLANСѼƵ, the County’s comprehensive planning effort. Previous plans have been completed for the Lower Swift Creek, Middle Creek, Lower Neuse and Western СѼƵ areas.

Community input is essential to this process. The plan will help determine the future of the built environment in eastern СѼƵ — including homes, buildings, roads, open spaces, farms and infrastructure — and it needs to reflect the needs, values and vision of the people who live and work there.
