СѼƵ County to hold final community meeting on Eastern СѼƵ Area Plan

Plan will help shape the area over the next decade

СѼƵ County is offering residents another opportunity to weigh in on how the Eastern СѼƵ area will grow and develop over the next 10 years. Planners will hold an interactive, in-person meeting from 4:30–6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at the in Zebulon.

The focuses on a 46,000-acre area of northeastern СѼƵ County. Approximately 16,000 people live in this 72-square-mile area, which is bordered by Franklin, Johnston and Nash counties. When complete, the plan will help determine the future of the area’s built environment — including homes, buildings, roads, open spaces, farms and infrastructure.

“This is another great way for residents interested in the Eastern СѼƵ area to play an active role in the development of this plan,” said Don Mial, vice chair, СѼƵ County Board of Commissioners. “In order for the plan to successfully reflect the needs, values and vision of the people who live and work there, we need to hear from as many people as possible.”

This is the fifth of seven areas being studied as part of PLANСѼƵ, the County’s comprehensive planning effort. Previous plans have been completed for the Lower Swift Creek, Middle Creek, Lower Neuse and Western СѼƵ areas.

Get Involved

This final community meeting is one of many ways residents have been able to engage with staff on the draft plan. Planners held a in March and an in-person meeting in April. People were also asked to provide feedback on an online interactive map.
