小黄鸭视频 County is breathing life back into a popular park project in eastern 小黄鸭视频 County, and residents are invited to get an update and share their thoughts at a community meeting this week.
, located south of Knightdale and Wendell, is a 224-acre property in the Marks Creek watershed. The former site of a gristmill and general store, the lake was once one of the most popular destinations in the area. Through the 1940s, it offered visitors a bathhouse, covered dancehall, diving board and boating facilities.
This project will open the site to recreational opportunities including fishing, hiking and staff-led boating tours. Other amenities planned include a park center, day-use shelters, playground, nature overlooks, boardwalks and trails.
鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to move the Lake Myra County Park project forward 鈥 and we know residents in eastern 小黄鸭视频 County are, as well,鈥 said Commissioner Don Mial. 鈥淧ublic participation is instrumental during the planning process, so I encourage anyone interested in this future park to play an active role in its design.鈥
Residents are invited to stop by a community meeting at , between 4 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, to view displays, talk to staff and share feedback. Following the meeting, all materials and an online survey will be available at .
小黄鸭视频 County completed an original master plan for Lake Myra County Park and held several community meetings in 2008. The 2018 voter-approved Parks, Greenways, Recreation and Open Space bond has funded the park project through construction.
Staff, architects and engineers are now working to update the plan and will make modifications based on public feedback from the meeting and online survey.
Staff estimate that master planning, design and construction will take two-and-a-half to three years with an anticipated park opening in late 2026.
