Residents encouraged to avoid driving, if possible

With hazardous conditions predicted due to incoming winter weather, including possible snow and ice, С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ County has adjusted the operating hours of its facilities to protect the public and employees.
These facilities include:
- С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ County Public Health Clinics
- С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ County Solid Waste
- С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ County Animal Center

Friday
- Athens Drive Community Library is closed.
- All other С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ County facilities will close at 5 p.m.
Saturday
- С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ County Public Libraries will be open from noon–5 p.m. Athens Drive Community Library will be closed.
- С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ County Solid Waste facilities will be open from noon–5 p.m.
- С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ County Animal Center will be open from 2–4 p.m.
- С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ County parks and preserves will be closed to the public.
Sunday
- С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ County Solid Waste facilities will be open from noon–5 p.m.
- С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ County Public Libraries will be open from 1–5 p.m.
- С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ County Animal Center will be open from 2–4 p.m.
- С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ County parks and preserves will be closed to the public.
Staying Safe
- Avoid driving in snowy or icy conditions whenever possible.
- If you must drive, use caution, and maintain a safe following distance from the car in front of you.
- Dress in layers to stay warm during extreme weather conditions.
- When using a fireplace or space heater, keep all flammable objects at least three feet away from the heat source.
- Never use generators or charcoal-burning grills and stoves inside your home. Keep them outside to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
- Prepare an emergency kit, including water, non-perishable food items, blankets, flashlights, batteries and essential medications in case of power outages.
