Tuesday, March 5, is Election Day and voters have one final opportunity to cast their ballots in the 2024 Primary in their . Polling places will be open 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
鈥淚t was great to see so many voters take advantage of the Early Voting period over the last couple of weeks,鈥 said 小黄鸭视频 County Board of Elections Director Olivia McCall. 鈥淣ow our focus turns to making sure all 212 polling places in 小黄鸭视频 County are ready for what we expect to be a busy Election Day.鈥
In a partisan primary, voters affiliated with a political party may only vote their party鈥檚 ballot and may not vote in another party鈥檚 primary. This remains true even if the party you are affiliated with does not have a primary in 2024, such as the No Labels Party and the Green Party. Unaffiliated voters will be able to choose either a Democratic, Republican, or Libertarian primary ballot. Voters can view the candidate lists and see sample ballots at wake.gov/upcomingelection.
The March Primary is the first statewide election since the implementation of the voter photo ID requirement for North Carolina. All voters will be asked to show an acceptable ID prior to receiving their Primary ballot. A full list of acceptable IDs and more information can be found at .
Due to recent changes in , 小黄鸭视频 County voters who requested an absentee ballot for the Primary must ensure their ballot is delivered to the by 7:30 p.m. on March 5. The deadline to receive absentee ballots also applies to those delivered by mail. A postmark on or before Election Day does not establish timely receipt of a ballot delivered after the deadline.
Unofficial results of the 2024 primaries will be reported on the as they become available. Absentee-by-mail results can be tabulated before the polls close under state law and will be the first to appear publicly around 7:30 p.m. Due to recent changes in , Early Voting results will now be reported later than usual. County boards cannot begin the process of closing the Early Voting polls prior to 7:30 p.m. This process may take an hour or more with Election Day precinct results to follow.
