The annual Lake Johnson cleanup is back! Volunteers can help pick up trash by walking or paddling through the park. Lunch and beverages will be provided afterward by the Friends of Lake Johnson Association. Bring drinking water, sunscreen, and a hat.
Volunteers must be at least 12 years old. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and have a release form signed by them. Volunteers must be at least 16 to use a paddle craft without an adult.
Check-in is from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the Thomas G. Crowder Woodland Center (5611 Jaguar Park Drive, behind Athens Drive High School). After a short walk to the Waterfront Program Center, the cleanup will run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by lunch from 12 to 1 p.m.
Volunteers may bring their own non-motorized paddle craft and life vest. Boats and life vests will also be available on a first come, first serve basis. No pets are allowed on City paddle craft. Those without boats will help clean litter along the trails.
Registration is required and limited to the first 100 participants.
