Jason Horton leads the development and implementation of С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ County’s Strategic Plan, providing leadership and coordination across departments to ensure progress on priority initiatives.
Since joining С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ County in 2007 as a budget and management analyst, Jason has served in multiple roles, including seven years as an analyst and deputy director in the Community Services department. Before joining the County, he worked as a local government management consultant in the private sector, focusing on municipal operations, land-use planning, and code enforcement. He also has experience with non-profit organizations dedicated to community redevelopment, youth leadership, and outdoor recreation.
A native of Mount Airy, North Carolina, Jason earned a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Management from Appalachian State University, graduating summa cum laude. He later returned to Appalachian State to complete a Master of Public Administration. Jason is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and the North Carolina City and County Management Association (NCCMA).
